Home plate umpire Chris Segal is off to a rough start in Game 2 of the Los Angeles Dodgers-San Diego Padres series, as he gifted Max Muncy a home run.
Yu Darvish is one of the more dominant pitchers in all of baseball when he’s on, but he’s not getting any favors from home plate umpire Chris Segal.
Darvish seemingly has an unlimited number of pitches in his arsenal, including at least three sliders if you ask Jazz Chisholm. Yet, when he has to throw four strikes in a single at-bat against an elite hitter like Max Muncy, it’s tough to blame him for a looming mistake.
The veteran hurler delivered what should have been strike three, and froze Muncy as a result. The pitch was instead called a ball.
