Plano’s Shops at Willow Bend has landed the first permanent store from edgy, luxury couture cheerleading uniform maker Rebel Athletic.
Carrollton-based Rebel, which makes the practice wear for the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders and uniforms worn in Netflix’s Cheer series featuring Navarro College and Trinity Valley Community College, will open its first permanent store around Nov. 1. Rebel has leased a double storefront of 8,000 square feet on the second level near H&M that was vacated by Victoria’s Secret and Pink.
Rebel also partners with the Miss America pageants, and, while teens and young adults are customers, the brand has grown with competitive club cheerleading. It’s become a youth sport for ages 7-13 with more than 2 million participating.
Rebel founder and CEO Karen Noseff Aldridge said the company’s customers are athletes, and it just received a trademark to exclusively use the message “Cheer is my sport.”
