Pro softball: Stevenson’s Main signs to pitch professionally in Italy

MONTEREY – A full circle moment for Jensen Main is on hold.

Main, who anticipated coaching softball this spring with her father Thomas – who taught her the game – at Stevenson, received an offer she couldn’t refuse to resume her athletic career.

The 24-year-old is headed to Italy next month, where she’ll pitch in a professional softball league in one of the country’s top divisions.

“When I saw the offer, as an athlete, I couldn’t refuse it,” said Main, who has been an assistant coach in softball this season at Monterey Peninsula College.

In fact, Main is a preschool teacher, holds down two other jobs, provides pitching lessons, and had planned to join her dad at Stevenson this spring.
