'Nobody should lose their life this young;' teens remember 15-year-old shot and killed

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Teens are asking other teens to put their guns down after they lost their friend to gun violence.

15-year-old Maria Fernanda Guerra-Sandoval died after being shot in west Columbus.

"I didn’t believe it at first, like I was in denial," said Ruby Zamarripa, a 10th-grader. "I really didn’t want to think it was true. I just sat there and cried."

As Maria's friends look back at pictures with her, they're reminded of her bright spirit.

"She was always happy, and she always made everybody laugh, everybody smile, always had that energy," said Tiffany Bueso, an 11th-grader.

Tiffany remembers the last time she saw Maria.
