New Nike uniform rules prohibit Phillies from wearing green St. Patrick’s Day jerseys

The Philadelphia Phillies are scheduled to play the Toronto Blue Jays in a split-squad Spring Training games on Friday, March 17, which is well-known as St. Patrick’s Day.

But, due to a rule coming from Major League Baseball’s new uniform manufacturer, the Phillies will not be donning the traditional and popular Kelly green jerseys and caps, according to a report from WIP Philadelphia.

Nike took over as Major League Baseball’s uniform maker two years ago and requested that team limit themselves to four jerseys. The green St. Patrick’s Day uniform did not make the cut.
