Cadillac Williams’ shirt served as both a prompt for Auburn fans and a sign of what’s to come at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
When Williams took the practice field Tuesday, his shirt displayed the phrase that has been associated with him for nearly two decades: Go Crazy.
Nineteen years after the late Rod Bramblett’s legendary call of Williams’ 80-yard touchdown run on the opening play of the 2003 Iron Bowl — “Go crazy, Cadillac!” — the phrase is now being used as a rallying cry for Auburn as it heads into Williams’ first home game as his alma mater’s interim head coach. Auburn (3-6, 1-5 SEC) hosts Texas A&M (3-6, 1-5) at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in Jordan-Hare Stadium for what’s anticipated to be a raucous environment, the likes of which are typically reserved for Iron Bowls and the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry — not November matchups between two last-place teams riding five-game losing streaks.
